Who I Am and What This Is Intended To Be....
I'm a bit of a latecomer to this whole blogging thing. I admit it--I am always a bit behind the times when it comes to getting acquainted with the changes in the technology landscape. As in, I only started using an MP3 player in July. (And they're terrific, by the way.) It's not because I'm against technological advancement. I'm not one of those anti-technology ogres. In fact, I'm a twentysomething who grew up learning how to use computers and playing video games. But I just wasn't into keeping up with the latest gadgetry, and learning the latest things, like downloading, file-swapping, and of course, blogging. So, I'm actually quite proud of myself for having leapt headfirst into the blogosphere. I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
Why am I here, and why should you care what I have to say? I am a self-professed, shameless news junkie. That doesn't mean that I always know everything that happens when it happens (I'm not that big of a junkie). But I am addicted to following current events and stories, and even more addicted to sounding off on the ones that interest me, infuriate me, or move me. I found myself spending so much time posting my thoughts on news message boards that I finally realized that I should use my energy on my own message board, if you will. More often than not, I was finding my impassioned posts being ignored while brainless ranters would take potshots at one another time and time again. Perhaps my posts to this blog will be ignored too, but at least the likelihood is greater that someone will actually take an interest in what I have to say.
I've kept diaries since I was a kid. I've been writing for years. And I'm a concerned citizen seeking a forum to speak my mind. That's what the blogosphere is supposed to be about, isn't it?
So let's get this party started.
